Anu Eskelin's painting is strongly influenced by nature. The light, the colours and the shapes she absorbs in nature are expressed in the painting process. For her, however, it is not about the depiction of what she sees, but about the feelings that are triggered in her by nature. When she paints, she forgets herself. The canvas tells her what to do. It is memories, remembered feelings inscribed in her body that Anu Eskelin puts on the canvas. In this way she connects the outer landscape with her inner one. Painting for her means being alive, being in this intense exchange.
