Sylvia Javén was born on an island in the Finnish archipelago. In her artworks, she deals with the many layers of landscape; emotional and geographical.
Painting is to her a spiritual expression and she is interested in finding the essence or the core of things: distinct shapes and colors come to represent symbols of truths. Her artistic expression is minimalistic and poetic. She has studied art at Gothenburg University in Sweden and Aalto University, from which she received her master's degree.
