Dissolution of Hierarchical Structures in Death

My paintings consider a new way of seeing the world in a post-digital landscape, with recurring skulls and chess pieces representing the human intellect. The Strategy & Mortality series employs artificial intelligence as a tool to generate images based on my own work. The digital images are printed at different scales and collaged into physical mixed media paintings. Each canvas becomes a multiplicity, simultaneously exploring several ways of looking at a subject or idea.

Previously based in New York City, Alex Markwith lives and works in Helsinki. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections.
