Sylvia Javén (b 1988), lives and works in Helsinki.
“I was born on an island, and I continued through my life to categorize in my mind different places and events as islands, often through isolating objects via form and color. I am drawn to minimalism and my works are partly abstract, I think it is about leaving space for the unsaid. I often work with the idea of the landscape and the objects you carry with you, place and matter existing in many layers; emotional, spiritual, geographical. I have exhibited my work in Finland and internationally in Sweden, Russia, Germany, Denmark and UK in film festivals and art exhibitions.”
