Javén Sylvia

Sylvia Javén’s work is rooted in the Finnish archipelago, where she was born on an island outside Turku. Her connection to the landscape has shaped a way of seeing in which places, experiences and people are translated into forms and lines that linger in memory. Through painting, she explores landscape as both a geographical and emotional space, distilling these impressions into minimal, symbolic compositions. Her practice is guided by a process of observation and reduction, allowing the essential to emerge through shape. Javén holds a Master’s degree from Aalto University’s Department of Art and Design and has exhibited her work in Finland and internationally.
