Astrid Strömberg (1990) is a painter who graduated with an MFA from Kuva in 2020 and is currently based in Uppsala, Sweden. Her practice primarily focuses on painting and installed painting, where individual works functions as fragments of a whole. Surface, shape, color are aspects that she plays with by repeating, cropping, searching for flatness or zooming in on. Like a cartoon’s flat aesthetic and playing with the naive and banal expressions without compromising on the serious attempt to find or seek for different suggestions on or in painting. Her works are included in Saastamoisen foundation, Pro Artibus foundation and the Finnish state Art collections.
