Power Balance (20 Sides)

Alex Markwith is a Helsinki-based visual artist whose paintings merge abstraction and street art influences. In the “Strategy & Mortality” series, Markwith’s own paintings are fed to artificial intelligence to generate new images, which are then printed and used as collage material for physical mixed media works. Imperfect and semi-organic geometric matrices merge with recurring images of skulls and chess pieces, exploring themes of consciousness, logical systems, conflict and power. Each canvas becomes a multiplicity, exploring several ways of looking at a subject or idea.
